UPCOMING EVENTS
1. On Saturday February 17 Celebrating Culture &
Community and Sonjay's Productions present Mardi Gras
in the Bay Area. Come join the fun at the El Cerrito
Community Center, (7007 Moeser Lane) El Cerrito, from
6-8:30pm as we bring a little of New Orleans to the
East Bay!
The event highlights the history of Mardi Gras, a
parade of costumes, dancing and singing. Another plus
will be a one-night special presentation of fashions
by Aminawear and Sonjay's Productions. Traditional
clothing from our diverse communities will also be a
high point of the show. SP Dancers, Chocolate Kisses,
Chocolate Drops and Chocolate Delights will show their
stuff with praise dancing, tap, jazz and modern dance.
The cost of the event is $15. Half of all proceeds
will go to support CC&C Sister Cities event. Youth
groups presenting some of the dances will also
benefit.

2. On Sunday March 18th please join CC&C and Shahrzad
Dance Academy for a celebration of Norooz (Persian New
Year).
This event is free and open to the public and will be
taking place at CC&C's multicultural center, 1900
International MarketPlace, in San Pablo (between
Contra Costa College and Helms Middle School) from
2-5pm.
The celebration features Persian dance performances by
Shahrzad Danc Academy and complimentary Persian food.
Norooz always takes place on the spring equinox of
each year and it falls on March 20, 2001.
